Microneedling is a collagen inducing skin therapy originating from the old Chinese tradition of acupuncture. Whilst great for skin rejuvenation, Microneedling also treats acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles and pigmentation. Microneedling can be used on most areas of the body. Tiny needles are penetrated into the dermis creating micro trauma which stimulates a wound healing process to create new collagen and elastin matrix’s. Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment, using the body’s own defence system to create  plumper, fresher, younger looking skin without the need for toxins or surgical interventions. At Skinworks Jersey we use the Dr Pen Ultima M8 Microneedling Derma Pen which is the newest on the market. Using the thinnest needle tips on the market, this makes treatment with this device more comfortable for clients and allows our Practitioners to have precise control of the needles to treat specific areas. Topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area treated to promote comfort.

Treatment Frequency: For best results, clients require 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. Results will last between 12-18 months. 1 stand alone treatment can be used for special events. Scarring can take multiple sessions.

Potential Side Effects: Tenderness (sunburn like), bleeding, redness, inflammations, itchiness, dryness, tightening, more sensitive to sunlight (for several days), marks where needles have entered the skin(rare).

Recovery Time: 12-24 hours

Contra-indications: Open wounds, scabs, blisters, bleeding skin, active acne, cold sores, contagious skin conditions, rashes, eczema, bruised skin, keloid scarring, photo-sensitive medication history, recent microdermabrasion/IPL treatments, recent Botulinum Toxin or Dermal Filler treatments, anti-coagulation medications (aspirin/warfarin), Pregnancy, Haemaphilia.
